Desktop Research

SurvSync Desktop Research is a dedicated workspace where surveyors can research a property before carrying out an inspection.

Property research before the inspection

The aim is to bring as much relevant property information as possible into one place, reducing the need to move between multiple websites, maps and external services.

Each report record on the SurvSync Dashboard includes access to Desktop Research for the relevant property address.

Property Information in One Place

SurvSync brings together a range of property and location information, including:

  • Google Maps location data
  • nearby places and amenities
  • Google Street View
  • council tax information
  • property and neighbouring property information
  • EPC data
  • elevation data
  • flood risk information
  • coal mining information
  • crime statistics

Maps and External Research Sources

Desktop Research also provides access to a range of useful mapping and property research sources, including:

  • Council Tax information
  • Rightmove
  • Zoopla
  • OnTheMarket
  • HM Land Registry
  • water hardness information
  • geology maps
  • coal mining maps
  • radon maps
  • noise maps
  • JKW maps
  • historical building maps
  • listed building information

SurvSync uses a combination of government and private sources to provide this information.

Where a source cannot be fully loaded directly into SurvSync, the platform provides direct access or an embedded view where possible, reducing the need for the surveyor to navigate away from the Desktop Research area.

Record and Summarise Research Findings

Surveyors can collect information from the available sources and record their findings directly within Desktop Research.

The research summary can be written manually or, where AI Copilot is enabled, Copilot can assist with summarising the information collected by the surveyor.

Desktop research can be a time-consuming part of preparing for an inspection. By bringing the relevant sources, research notes and summary tools into one workspace, SurvSync helps make the process more organised and efficient.

A Permanent Research Record

SurvSync treats Desktop Research as an important part of the inspection and reporting workflow.

A separate document containing the research summary can be created and stored alongside the other documents associated with the instruction.

This provides a clear record of the research carried out for the property.

Connected Directly to the Report Builder

Desktop Research can also be accessed directly from the SurvSync Report Builder.

This allows the surveyor to review the property research while preparing the report without moving between separate systems.

Images and screenshots collected during Desktop Research can also be accessed from the Report Builder and added to the report where required.
